He is sixteen years of age, and was born on the eighteenth of May.

Starter Pokemon:

Charmander - the lizard Pokemon. The flame that burns at the tip of its tail is an indication of its emotions. The flame wavers when Charmander is enjoying itself. If the Pokémon becomes enraged, the flame burns fiercely.

"Charmander was always my favorite, especially when I saw him the first time as a child. I trust him with my life."

Family:
• Maylene Arianald - Maylene is the only mother-like figure that Kellen has ever known. While she is not his biological mother, he considers her more of a parent than his real mother. Living on his father's farm for the past 14 years, she taught Kellen how to cook, raise Pokemon, and how to be the subtle, shy boy he is today. She still lives at the farm, and neither her nor Kellen's father are in any kind of relationship. They're friends, just that. Occasionally, when Kellen stops by, she will show him a recent Pokemon that came, and always gives the best gifts.

"Maylene is one of the most important people in my life. When I was two, after my mother had passed away, she came to live on the farm with us. She raised me just like a mother would. When my father was working, she'd feed me, spend time with me, all that stuff. She didn't even know me, which is all the more surprising. Apparently she used to be a trainer, because she traveled with my dad in his younger years. On my fourteenth birthday, she took me to get Charmander, and showed me all the basics of Pokemon training. Then, on my sixteenth birthday, she gave me a Growlithe. I love coming home."

• Garrett Benedict - Garrett is one of those typical fathers, who tries to mix strict discipline with a close relationship. Somehow, it worked. Throughout Kellen's entire life, his father has managed to always stay on his good sign, often showing him mistakes he made and how to correct them. Because of his wife's passing, he's tried harder than he should have to make up for the missing parent. Now, he lives with Maylene on his farm in Yaner Town, where he raises Pokemon.

"Garrett has been the best father I could possibly ask for. Not that there a few problems, but he never sheltered me like some parents do. He used to emphasize on 'real-world exposure', he called it. Anyways, he was the one who gestured for me to begin training Pokemon, and I'll never forget that."

Brief History:
Kellen was born on the eighteenth of May, a few days before his mother passed away. Because his father had never raised a child before, especially with no help, it was a dysfunctional household for the first year or so. However, when Kellen was two, one of his father's old traveling partners passed by, and ultimately decided to stay. Maylene helped raise him, so that his father could return to working on the farm, instead of having to hire someone to do so. It all worked out, and the rest of his childhood passed by like most children's. His years were also spent with massive exposure to Pokemon, which sparked his interest at a young age.

At fifteen, on the day of his birthday, Maylene (and his father, of course), gave him a Charmander, prompting the impending days to begin his training. Kellen caught on quick, battling other small-time trainers and such in Yaner Town. Him and Charmander bonded more than most Pokemon and their trainers, and they battled like one. Seeing his progress, on his sixteenth birthday, he was gifted with a Growlithe, expanding his party by one. With two loyal Pokemon, he decided to travel, and left his island-bound town. He first traveled to Cristel Town, where he caught his first Pokemon on Route 5. This was a Furret, which many criticized as weak and useless. Disregarding others, Kellen cherished his new Pokemon, and was happy to have another one on his team.

A few weeks later, a gift came for Kellen. It was a pokeball, which contained Flaaffy, the electric-sheep Pokemon. It was quick to evolve however, giving him his Ampharos.

Physical Appearance:
Kellen stands at 5'7'', and weighs about average for a sixteen-year-old. His complexion is rather normal as well, though is a bit on the pale side. If you were to simple glance at him, you'd probably notice the great contrast between his eyes and his skin, with his irises being dark brown, like that of chocolate. His hair appears to be black in bad-light, though many can argue that it's actually a very, very dark brown color. His lips are pale, not dividing themselves much from the rest of his face. His torso is not very long, but long enough to not be considered small. His legs are the longest limbs on his body, allowing him to run very fast. All in all, he does not differ or stick out much in a crowd.

Personality:
At first, Kellen may appear to be very timid and shy. Slightly, he is, but this is only one small, minuscule bit of his personality. While he hates conflict and violence, he is at the same time determined and fiery, and has a very confined temper. When he does grow angry enough, however, he is a force to be reckoned with. He is still extremely friendly, however, and is nice enough to those who appear to be as friendly as him.

Kellen is prominently an extremely strong-willed and determined individual. Everything that he does, he does to exceed someone's expectations. He hates being predictable and hates being told he can't do something. Throughout his younger years, Kellen was constantly harassed as being unable to do this or that. Irritated and not wanting to be the butt of the joke any longer, he devoted himself to training, to his works, to anything that made him feel confident and talented. He wanted to prove others wrong, wanted to be respected, and wanted to be acknowledged as someone who didn't give up.

But just because he wants to stand out, doesn't mean he wants to be excluded from society. Kellen's friendly enough and easy to approach if he doesn't approach the other person first to say a quick hello. He's straightforward and a bit blunt which sometimes causes another person to feel offended, but that's just how he is. A lot of the times, he'll even apologize if he realizes he's crossed the line.

All in all, Kellen is a good kid with good intentions. When he's not busy figuring things out, he'll be outside looking to make new friends or hang out with the ones he already has. He's thoughtful, respectful, and affectionate to those he cares about and is always willing to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. Basically, he's the guy who can easily adapt to both serious and fun situations.
